Yak Tricks

I am looking forward to one day training Yaks Tricks...did you know?...

There is a "Yak Act" and it's found in the Mongolian State Circus and Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Baily Circus!

Deron and I have trained so many different species of animals I am sure I have lost count. Most we have taught to do tricks. From mice to horses, we have successfully worked with training tricks. And from mice to horses, all have been taught to "Jump Through A Hoop". So when I found that in Mongolia Yaks participate in the Circus, I had to grin. I am sure, too, that if any of our friends showed up at our place and saw Yak sized Agility Equipment set up, they would not be at all surprised.

For Deron and I, trick training, or task training is just part of training. We like to teach easy tricks that the animals can learn well so that when training tasks that are harder for the animal to do, you can have them go back and do the trick that they have learned well for a couple of reasons. One reason is to end the training session on "a good note". The second is so that the animal feels it has accomplished something. Trick training allows the animal to learn to learn what the human is trying to teach it.

The contents of this page for Yak Tricks is still under construction. Please check back later!
